The Triple marker test is screening test carried out at the end of first trimester of pregnancy. This test helps in identifying if there is a risk of a chromosomal anomaly in the foetus. It measures the level of three important substances of the placenta namely, alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) and estriol. It is a simple blood test, wherein the sample is collected by a technician and sent to laboratory for testing and analysis.
